Trigeminal pain and migraine

This project combines molecular biology, confocal microscopy, cell biology and electrophysiology to understand the process of pain transduction by trigeminal sensory neurons.

To this end, different experimental models are used, including neurons that genetically express the gene mutation most-frequently observed in human familial hemiplegic migraine.  The research activity is currently supported by the Telethon Foundation, the Cariplo Foundation, and the European Union through the TransReg fund (MINA project) and the FP7 program (EuroHeadPain).
